Being More Active During Summer

Have you ever wondered why you don’t lose more weight in the summer time? For example, living in the Midwest being more active during summer months put us in a state of shock. This mindset coaching article will reveal why you don’t lose more weight during the summer versus the winter.

Picture it now, the snow mold coming off the grass, the buds on the trees with leaves about to pop and the smell of warmth coming from the sun. Ok, I get it. It’s weird that I went for the smell of the sun, but you know what I mean.

Most people think they are more being more active during summer. However, once summer is in full force their activity level barely meets par for the course. Pardon the golf pun. On top of that, we also think that since we are more active we need to eat more. Rather, we deserve to eat more. Because our bodies are smart and we don’t have to think about them operating, we tend to take them for granted.

Once the caloric intake increases because we THINK we are being more active you’re, at the very least, breaking even. In other words, be very aware of your intake of food during the summer time. Winter may be a time when we eat more , but summer can be too. I’m speaking from experience.

Let’s create some context…

Planning a vacation for my family was fun and exciting. Talking about all the possibilities of inland Florida and googling fun things to do. Meanwhile I was working out a little more so that when I was on vacation I felt good and looked good. That totally worked. I was doing more rounds of the WODs than usual.

Because of that I was able to really lean out. However, once we got to Florida everything went haywire on the Nutrition side. Therefore my WODs went to one round and I wasn’t eating like I was pre vacation. On top of that there are a TON of people inland Florida and that leads to stress. Stress, for me, leads to unhealthy eating.

After we got home the unhealthy eating habits followed me. It took me three weeks to clean things up physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Sill getting one round done though. That’s the foundation for change.

Each WOD completed adds to the different choices I make every moment of every day. The train I’m throwing this information out there is because being more active during summer is a myth we tell ourselves so that when we eat 14 Krispy Cream donuts we don’t feel so bad.

Forgive yourself as quick as you judge yourself and eventually you’ll find balance. I know, like the sun is going to come up tomorrow, that as soon as you accept the fact that you aren’t more active during summer you’ll find yourself in a happier place. Some might actually be more active during summer and can mitigate the temptation. Be happy for them because what you give is what you receive.

So with the mindset of moving more get after it and have fun. I wish you all the happiness in the world. Thank you so much for reading this. It means the world to me.

Have Fun!
