Once you start living a healthy lifestyle there are habits changed created and even eliminated. You’re now on your way to becoming a self starter. Because you’ve made it this far into The 365 WOD Journey, you’re probably more than on your way.
It hit me when I was working on my website. Ping! Ping! Two messages came in right after another. People message me each day that they got their WOD done. Therefore one might say they report to daily.
That provoked a question…
Who Do I Report To Everyday?
Becoming a self starter means that you don’t need the confirmation from anyone except yourself that you’re doing the “right” thing. The amount of self awareness that comes with the consistency of sticking to something is parallel and upward sloping. Even when setbacks happen they don’t last long and a self starter learns from them. If not, then they recognize there’s more to learn.
It doesn’t have to be a world changing experience or idea to be a self starter. Anyone who feels like they are successful and are happy with their life is it. However, today’s society sees fancy shoes, expensive cars and big houses equals success. Happiness is success. However, money is required, but knowing yourself is worth way more than money will change your “being” forever. In other words, your self awareness will provide you the guidance to whichever experience brings you the most happiness.
For example, if you were making over 150K per year and were miserable with your life, does that mean you’re living your best life? No. Plain and simple. Making less somewhere else and increasing your happiness would then increase your ability to live with purpose and start something without expectations. That is what all self starters have in common.
The ability to give without any expectation of getting anything back is the secret sauce. Too many people think they are providing value with a free thing and want something in return. I ask for an At Will Offering At Will Offering for the WODs and don’t expect ANYONE to give. I truly don’t and yet, people do. Even as much as a dollar per WOD. I don’t expect anything, ever.
When I reflect on my day at night just before I drift off to sleep, I ask myself a question…
Did I give more than I received today?
Sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes it’s no. What I’ve noticed about the yes days are the amount of happiness I’ve felt. The no days have the opposite effect. Happiness is the key to everything. Because of that my ability to give more has dramatically increased.

- Do more things that make you truly happy.
- Stay consistent with what you’re dedicated to.
- Be grateful for where you’re at right now.
