When I first learned about a Lunge back in high school I didn’t want anything to do with it, but now I have a new found respect for it. Today’s WOD has lunges in them, but I will explain how to have smooth effective lunge technique. It really comes to down the lunge and this smooth effective lunge technique gives you sexy legs, even the fellas want sexy legs, they just won’t admit it.
My clients tell me at first what they CAN’T do and lunges are ALWAYS on that list. Sometimes I forget that I haven’t always been where I am today. My story is kind of the same as most when it comes to weight loss, but none the less the story still leaves me every now and again.
Proper lunge technique is something that is very similar to most “proper” technique. In terms of a smooth effective lunge technique it’s all about the right angles. Simply think of your knees as a protractor. Your knee should not move past your toes. Whether you are doing a front lunge, back lunge or side lunge that is the point of no return.
As soon as your knee goes past your toes, then the pressure is through the roof and the top is about to pop off!
Like I said, whether it is your side lunge technique, reverse lunge technique, static lunge technique what you should be looking for are lunge technique cues. Now, there WAY too many to list as far as lunge technique cues and that wouldn’t be very effective.
So the best thing to do is…
Keep Your Knee On Top Of Your Toes

- 20 reps- Batman
- 20 reps total- Supine Opposite Arm and Leg Raise
