Accept Our Choices Then Live

In this mindset coaching article let’s learn to accept our choices then live with them. I applied to only one college. The alternative to not getting in was me enlisting to become a Marine. I wanted so badly to not get into college so I could go to the marines. However, my Mom didn’t want that and quite frankly I didn’t even ask my Dad because we didn’t really have a tight relationship because he was working all the time. Which I respect him to this day because of it.

It wasn’t until I became a parent myself that I started to realize that I was making the same parenting choices as my parents. Therefore I started to look within to interrupt those patterns.

Choosing to accept our choices then live with them comes with an awareness of those choices. I didn’t even realize that I had as much resentment towards my Mom until I started to ask myself why I was so impatient with my children. It’s because I was becoming my parents. It’s true that their DNA is in me and in my children. However, it only makes up 50% of me. I get to choose the other 50%.

I, of course, went to college and racked up a bunch of debt. My life only started to change once I dug deep within myself and began to heal such resentment. It was like I wanted to keep the debt because it meant I could then keep hating on my parents. It was my Mom’s fault I went to college in the first place. That’s what I told myself when I delayed the payments to the student loans.

After I sat with the pain, it started to go away, along with the student loan debt and any other physical/external need I was trying to fill the void with. It’s something that has bothered me since 2003 and creeps up every now and again. That pain sticks with me in my soul. Sometimes my ego entertains it and surfaces into my consciousness.

The difference now is that I accept my choices and live with them without emotion. Nothing is good, bad, lost or found. It’s life. I trust life and that’s what I receive from It. Trust.

Accept our choices then live. Once you start doing that without an emotional charge, you’ll start to live a completely different life. Let me be the first to welcome you to the party. It’s now time to make the choice to move more or not. Choose wisely.

And for the record, I love my Mom and Dad. They’ve always believed in me all of my life and still do. They have given up so much for my brother, sister and me. The amount of gratitude I have for them has no measurement. This mindset coaching article is dedicated to them. I love you, Mom and Dad.
