That is what we will talk about and DO something about with today’s WOD…
I have been working with heart rate training to lose weight since I have learned about it in school back in 2006!
But today’s way of training has nothing to do with the kind of heart training you would expect. You can workout ALL you want, but if you are not working on other parts of your health and well being then you will be working REALLY hard for nothing.
Working on the REST of health is what I do BEST…
Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, Social and Spiritual…
Those ALL are what are know as the 8 Demotions Of Wellness. Working on ALL parts of your life help you be a well rounded person. Ok, let’s get back to gym talk…
I get this question a lot from my clients in the gym:
What should my heart rate be during exercise?
Now, the answer is easy. 220 – Age * .84 for at least 12 minutes during your bout of exercise…
That answer is easy for ME to understand. I don’t want to talk down to you so I want to simplify what that means.
Very simple here. Get out of breath for 12 minutes. And I mean OUT of breath.

How can you lower your resting heart rate?
That answer is VERY simple. Get your body MORE efficient. How? Practice moving at least 3 times a week!
My favorite way to train is is interval training. I have been using interval training to lose weight since I was in high school. I didn’t really understand what I was doing until college. Now, I simply find the most efficient ways to workout and modify them to either make them harder or easier.
I also use strength training to lose weight FAST!
That’s why I create all of these WODs. My vision is that you use this training to lose weight at home. If you want to go to the gym, you sure can. We all carry a phone so you can see or read about the WODs from there. 🙂
Ok, I know that was a longer post, but I feel like a little explanation is appropriate as I get more into this blogging stuff… LOL

WOD #45 Train Your Heart To Lose Weight
- Pulse Push-Ups- 10-20 reps
- Side Plank Switch- 20 reps total
- Plank- Hold 60 seconds
