As soon as you realize there is no wagon and you ARE the wagon, then you begin to live life. Today’s mindset coaching article will rewire your brain from the traditional bandwagon programs. Just remember there is no wagon to get on or off of. It’s all lifestyle.
There is one caveat: If you’re happy and I mean 100% happy with your life you don’t need to read or do any of the WODs or listen to my coaching. I’m not talking to you.
As we grow up our analytical minds are developed to take in what our parents tell us as truth and law. For example, if Mom said that the cold weather will give me a cold then because I don’t have a hat on I’m going to get a cold. That will be imprinted in my brain until I decide to think differently about how I get colds.
Taking that thought about what Mom told me and replacing it takes practice. Because of my subconscious mind, it will have to be repeated many times. Replacing the thought needs an emotional charge. My Mom wouldn’t be very happy if I went outside without a stocking hat on to cover my hair and ears. Until I got to college that was why I got a cold. SO I thought.
Breaking wiring in my brain happened when I decided over and over again to not wear a stocking cap in the wind walking to class in Fargo North Dakota. Big mistake when it pertains to frostbite, but I didn’t “catch a cold”.
Because we are bombarded with ads and commercials about getting back in shape or back on the wagon is the reason you’re where you are today. Let’s start rewiring your brain by recognizing that there is no wagon. There is no getting back to your former self. Because getting back on the wagon implies that there will be a time to get off of the wagon.
It’s like going on a diet. That also implies that you will eventually go off of the diet. Simply change the way you think about your diet and realize that you are the wagon.
We go through life experiencing different things at different ages. As a result of those experiences, they are stored in your mind. Those experiences come with emotional charges aka happiness, sadness, embarrassed, joy, anger and many more. It’s our job as humans to forgive, but not forget. Take those memories after you’ve forgiven yourself for holding onto them for so long and store them into your soul as wisdom.
The wisdom will create space in your mind to welcome new and enjoyable experiences. That’s why I tell everyone who is on their 365 WOD Journey to not go back to WOD #1 if they miss a day or even a week of WODs. Simply pick up where you left off. Because that way you never quit and there won’t be any feelings of failure.
It’s remarkable what that does to the wiring in your brain about “the wagon”. You are the wagon. You are you. There is no wagon. Therefore the wagon has no emotional charge any longer. Forgive yourself for listening to your analytical mind, which is most likely the voice or voices of the people who raised you, and live your life. Live your life the way your inner self tells you to live it.
