The Old You Versus The New YouThe old you versus the new you, what does that mean? Because now I feel like we’re in a place where school is starting to get into a groove and our kids are starting to get into the groove. Now we are starting to change our patterns again because of the school year and we’re thinking…

Okay now we got time for this and now we’re figuring out whatever that looks like for you. The old you versus the new you is the battle of your lifetime and you’ll soon gain some context about how to constantly win the battle.

What are you gonna do this school year and what’s gonna change?

When you try to change, your body will fight you tooth-and-nail, like, it just will all the way through if you change too fast. The hardest part about change and the hardest part about the new you is the
old you.

What I mean by that is our past can get the best of us each day, (and I’m talking to myself here, this is something that I work through every day because being a business owner means being who I am today and not being who I was yesterday) meaning I am profitable, I am worthy, I am able to receive and I am successful.

I MEAN all of that stuff because the old is not me was so NOT that. The old was struggling, the old me was pity and the old me was naive. I was just a complete hollow shell.

What happens with our old self to our new self is the new identity. We have to create a new identity and break the patterns and habits of being the old itself. It takes daily practice, it takes minute practice and understanding that every day it takes practice at every moment. It takes practice to become the new you and if you’re aware of what that looks like if you’re aware of what that feels like.

Then you’re not only going through the motions you’re aware of those motions and Emotions. It’s like waking up in the morning, but in the middle of the day because if you’re going through the motions you’re still asleep. It is literally like you’re still sleeping. Going through the same stuff every day and you don’t even think about what you’re doing anymore.

When that happens you’re just going through the motions, then the old itself prevails every time. Be aware of what you’re doing every moment of every day so you can choose what you want to do instead of sleeping through your day.

You’ve probably experienced the moment where you’re awake, but sleeping at the same time. For example, you look at your watch or you look at the clock and you’re like “whoa it’s noon already” or “oh man where did the morning go?” or “how did I get home, I don’t even remember what happened today” and “I don’t even remember the drive home.”

If you experience that many times a day, then that means you’re here literally sleeping your life away. It’d be great to actually be aware of your life wouldn’t it? Being aware of every moment of every day and loving every moment of every day takes an increase of awareness and constant practice. What does that look like for you?

Is it just getting through the day? Are you in survival mode constantly?

When your body’s in survival mode it means you’re under a lot of stress and stress deteriorates the body. Stress is like salt on a car. Then the salt gets on your car. When that happens it eats away slowly at the body of your car. Just like stress does to your body, it eats away at it. A lot of people call rust cancer.

Stress just eats away the body of your car and causes all sorts of problems.

What do you do to prevent the cancer?

Wash off that salt.

What do you do to clean your mind and your body?

First thing is awareness, become aware of your motions and your Emotions.

What are you doing everyday that’s causing all of that stress?

AND…

What can you do to not have it?

Do you bring home work with you?

When you get home is your mind still on work?

Second, enjoy your family. Kids are NOT gonna be small forever. They’re not gonna be young forever. That’s it, you got to work and get paid, I get that, but shut it off.

Do something every day to interrupts your usual patterns. I’m talking to the people that complain about their life
and don’t do anything different. Complaining solves nothing, you just get a complaint forever.

If you love your life and you love what you’re doing, then you probably aren’t really bothered at all and you’re not really watching, doing and/or reading any of the things that I say or do or whatever.

I’m talking to you targeted the people who complain and do anything about it. You cannot sit in Precontemplation forever. Thinking about what you’re going to do and not acting on it leads you nowhere. Eventually you have to just go right into action. Stop doing the shit you don’t like to do. Do more of what you want to do. Listen to your heart. What does it say?

It’s time for a change.

Do something different.

If you’ve had a massive traumatic and/or medical event in your life and you expect life to be different because of it, then you have another thing coming. After that event it’s gonna be the same if you’re not aware of your habits. It’s gonna change for a little bit because it has to, but in all reality you’re gonna go right back into the same old patterns. If and only if you don’t increase your awareness and think about what that looks like for you.

What do you do in the morning until night?

From the time do you wake up to the time you go to bed?

What does that look like for you?

What are you changing?

Are you doing anything different?

OR

Is it always the same?

That’s the question.

It’s always a question.

How is today gonna be different?

Even when you set up new patterns be aware of those patterns. What if those patterns aren’t good? Well, you tried it and if it didn’t work,  you found one more way that doesn’t work for you. Keep trying new patterns. I get it, not everybody likes spontaneity. Some people love routine, but eventually routine becomes boring and not the way you imagined your life to be.

After the new routine is created, now you’re ready for another change. It’s all takes practice. It doesn’t happen overnight. Statistics show that it may take six months or more. Follow these WODs each day and you’ll be there before you know it.

In conclusion, you’re one hundred percent in charge of your ow life. The battle of the old you versus the new you doesn’t end when you create a new life, it’s all about moment to moment practice. It’s now time to take responsibility for it.

Have Fun!
