This Is My Story OF Beating The Fat
Here is a little about me and My Story Of Beating The Fat. Everyone has the power to change their own life. All the answers lie within our own mind. If we need any question answered all we need to do is ask ourselves the RIGHT question. My dream is to teach that power to people again. No matter what religion you come from, what your background is, you can ask for the answer. We get taught this at an early age. “Ask and you shall receive” comes to mind. Belief in one’s self is where ALL dreams begin. Anyone can dream, it’s just having enough guts to do the work and take the necessary risks to get to them.
My Childhood wasn’t that bad. I grew up in Mitchell South Dakota. I got what I needed and had parents that loved and cared for me. My Mom worked nights and my Dad worked days. Just because we could not afford daycare. My parents always told me that I could do anything I put my mind to. I am VERY appreciative for that, NOW. I just had inner demons telling me otherwise. Everything I did with school I pretty much sucked at. So I turned to playing video games. And we ALL Know what goes well with playing video games right? JUNK FOOD!
I played a TON of video games and gained a TON of weight. By the time I hit middle school my Dad had a good paying job, but he was out-of-town ALL the time. It got to the point where I was fighting in school and even got suspended! My Mom told my Dad if he didn’t quit that job she was getting a divorce. Well he got a job at a camper dealership, which was going to be a downfall for me because my Dad made me get a job when I was 14 years old. I had NO motivation for that! I wanted to play video games and eat candy all day! But NOPE! Had to get a job.
SO, I took the easy road, so I thought, and got a job where HE worked!! BIG MISTAKE! Because I had to actually work. That REALLY sucked because I didn’t know a screw driver from a pliers. And this job was at a camper dealership at a Shop Tech! What was I thinking?!! I remember the first morning of work and I came to the table to eat my cereal. My Dad asked me how I am getting to work. I looked at him with a blank stare and said “You?”. He shook his head and he got up and pointed to the door. I saw my bike sitting outside. I had to pedal my fat ass to work!!
That was the worst/best thing to ever happen to me! I also bought a moped that summer. So I put in my time and learned a TON about work ethic!! If I wasn’t working I got yelled at by the shop foreman. It was a VERY good thing. At the time I thought, hey Dad stick up for me dammit! But it actually worked out because it taught me to ask questions to the foreman AND my Dad. I started the summer out somewhere around 230 pounds and I got down to about 150 pounds by the end!!
Just by working and riding my bike!! My freshman year of high school was PRETTY damn cool! I looked good and I even got a car!! Now my first far doesn’t mean much to most people but it meant I didn’t have to pedal anymore!! LOL… I played sports in high school because it was either that or I work. Plus I know that I felt WAY better after “practice”.
When I graduated high school I started partying. That carried over to college. I racked up a lofty bill with my rebellious attitude. The guys at my Fraternity helped me figure out what I was to do with my life. I was VERY good at 2 things. One was partying and the other was working out. I found that I was good at entertaining people AND building them up. So I just followed what “seemed’ to fit me best, exercise. Using my wit and personality to quickly realize that I could help people get fit AND have fun at the same time.
I worked for an agency that helped Developed Mentally Disabled people live on their own. There was this client that was depressed and didn’t want to leave the house, but he had a gym membership card hanging from his key rack. I asked him if he wanted to go to the gym, he said yes. His mobility and ability to exercise wasn’t great, but what I realized that evening, while walking around the track, is that he REALLY opened up and was full of life while we were walking. I KNEW right then and there that exercise and finding out what people LIKE to do was what I LOVED TO DO!
I help people believe in THEMSELVES again! Please ask me any questions you may have! I am an open book! As you can see in my story of beating the fat I lay it ALL out there!
