Lower Body Degeneration PreventionWe are in the day and age where movement is an afterthought. Lower body degeneration prevention is important not only for those who are inactive, but it is also for those who have muscle degeneration in legs or back.

The question of prevention is something that is always running through my mind. It brings up the egg and the chicken story…

What comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Now, I’m not looking for an answer quite yet, but it is a compelling question. I think the reason that I go there right away is that lower body degeneration prevention could be considered the chicken OR the egg.

Let me explain…

If you already have degeneration, then can you prevent it from further damage?

Sure you can…

But if you attempt to prevent your back and lower body from degeneration does that mean you are 100% NOT going to have an injury?

No it does not.

Also, I am sure there are statistics to support either way. I am thinking that when people think of prevention they think, “Oh well it’s too late for it”.

How do I know?

Well, I have been in the health and wellness industry since 2008, so I may know a little about it.

The other question I ask my clients is…

What are the things will keep up us upright?

Legs of course.

Keeping your legs strong will help you stay independent all of your life. Independence is something we take for granted and when we don’t have it we think about what we “use to” do.

To say that you will 100% prevent degeneration from happening with exercise is a lie, but it sure helps mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Ok now that we have talked about why lower body degeneration prevention is important let’s get to the WOD…

WOD #71 Lower Body Degeneration Prevention

  • Beginner- 10 minutes
  • Advanced- 20 minutes
  • Squats- 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds
  • Lunges- 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds
  • Batmans- 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds
  • Deadlift- 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds

Repeat!!
