Long Days And Short YearsLife can seem rough once in a while. There are good days and not so good days. It’s all about perspective. I’ve talked about long days before and short years. Long days and short years is a phrase that has been popping into my head since my kids were born. This mindset coaching article will shed some light on how to let go of the long days and help you come to realize that our years are short.

Once you become a parent or have the sole responsibility of taking care of another human being there is an instant neural synapse that happened. Because of that moment, your life is forever changed. Long days and short years are ahead and will be quickly behind you. Each moment we live in choice. Constantly making decisions that have a major impact without us even knowing it. I do what I do to increase the awareness of those decisions.

Documenting my life’s journey one workout and day at a time has been the best part. It hasn’t always been like that though. There was a time when I let everyone else dictate what I was going to do for that day. Meanwhile, my daughter was a baby so yes, there’s some give and take there. My wife too, we worked as a team, and still do, to raise our children. Once I got my self-awareness on point things started to come together.

Parenting isn’t easy at all. There are long days and short years. Nobody gets that more than a parent. If you’re reading this and you’re not a parent it’s ok. Either you’ve chosen not to have/adopt children, you’re young and don’t want them yet, or whatever the reason you simply don’t have any. There’s no shame in that. Life can still feel like it is flying by.

The way that I found to work best for me to curb the long days and short years in so journal, meditate, document parts of my life and live moment to moment. Not worrying about what happened yesterday and not planning too far into the future. However, I do think about my 100-year-old self a dramatic amount of time. Because of those thoughts, it fuels the now.

No matter my genetic makeup I get to choose 50% of my physical health is each and every day. Let that sink in for a moment. Taking responsibility for that 50% requires a level of maturity that some won’t even understand until they are on their death bed. Therefore live a life of love and gratitude for every experience that comes your way.

Take the long days in stride and have full belief in yourself that no matter what the experience good or bad it’s what was the way it was supposed to happen. Then learn from it. The years are short because we only have 100 years to live. Our souls guide us to live the best experiences possible.

So forget about the long days and short years and start living in the present moment. Document how you feel about your current life and start thinking about what is most important to you and what makes the happiest. Concentrate all of your energy in that and make changes accordingly.

Doing the WODs each day has set a foundation of consistency, accountability, and security for me. That’s why nobody can tell me they don’t work. Because each and every day I am living proof of my own work and experiment. Life is an experiment. Have some constants and have fun with the variables. Keep up the great work.

Have Fun!
