Get Busy Doing Nothing

Have you ever had a day planned out so perfect that you get busy doing nothing instead? Having ADHD this happens to me all the time. The whole day is planned and before I know it I’m doing ten things I didn’t even plan on doing. This mindset coaching article will provide you an an inside look at what it takes to get a few things done in a day with ADHD.

All of my life my mind has been racing. Even in school it was tough for me to concentrate. Reading was nearly impossible. I was always disrupting class and goofing off. It wasn’t because I was a bad kid. It was because I couldn’t focus on what was in front of me because I was already thinking about the next things we were going to do in class.

When I was a sophomore in college I was diagnosed with ADHD. I remember taking adderall for the first time. I went to class and didn’t even take notes. Typically I would try to take notes, but couldn’t because all I would do is doodle. That day was different. It was like my brain was firing on all cylinders. I finally felt “normal.”

There are other natural ways to treat ADHD. I choose to take adderall. It works for me. Find what works for you and run with it.

The problem is I get busy doing nothing sometimes. Starting so many projects only to never finish them. There is a way around of this though.

What I’ve found is only do the things that make you the most happy and fulfilled. That way the other things will get done eventually because they become important enough to focus on. Also, think about what brings you joy. Happiness seems as there is always a pursuit to it. Joy is something that is everywhere inside of you and out.

Get busy doing nothing can also be a good thing. Slow down and take a deep breathe. I mean it. Take a deep breathe right now with me. In through your nose and out through your mouth. Breathe in positivity and breathe out negativity. How do you feel? Better? Worse? No change?

It’s ok to be busy. However, be very aware if you are getting busy doing nothing. If you feel hollow inside and aren’t fulfilled, then tear up that list. Start over and write a new one. All of the other stuff will take care of itself.

It seems delusional and not practical, but so does going through life feeling hollow. Because each day you complete your next WOD only proves to yourself that you are capable of doing and being whatever you put your mind to. I’m so proud of you for making yourself your number one priority.

Have Fun!
