Busy Then Lazy Not The Other Way AroundWe get busy then lazy not the other way around. Most of us started out without any responsibility. Some of us had the responsibility, but never owned up to it, but that’s a different story for a different day. It all starts in school as soon as we get “homework”. Then we add in sports or extracurricular activity. It doesn’t matter what we do or switch our attention to, we always get busy then lazy not the other way around.

Before we had children my wife and I had plenty of time for whatever we wanted to do. That is, of course, looking back on what we THOUGHT we had for “time” because the reality is, we didn’t think we had a ton of time, to begin with. The first thing I noticed about having children is that we get very busy with their lives. It’s because as human beings we have to. Then we get very lazy with our own lives. This doesn’t have to be the case when we put our attention on ourselves for at least fifteen to twenty minutes a day.

That’s how long each workout of the day (WOD) takes to complete. We simply take the time by becoming aware of our schedule, put our phone down (from scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and any other mind-numbing thing that consumes your mind and life with other people’s business) and crank out the next WOD.

Commit to ONE round of ONE WOD each day. Doing that will decrease your odds of becoming too busy to get it done. Isn’t it crazy that we fill our day full of other people’s stuff that it makes us busy then lazy not the other way around? There might be people out there who are lazy, but they didn’t get that way by just stopping everything in one day and saying “I’m done, it’s time to be lazy for the rest of my life.”

It doesn’t work that way because we all have put up those barriers of why we can’t do it.

I don’t have time to workout because I have to drop my kids off at their Wednesday night church event.

Do you go along with them? No. Get your butt somewhere that you can move your body while they are learning about the big guy upstairs. It’s those small windows of opportunity that make or break you getting in the movement that our bodies want.

This is exactly what I do on a daily basis. Whether it’s when my kids are running around in the family room or outside. All I do is set up the tripod and record my first round. I then do the remaining 4-5 rounds that I call for.

Getting busy then lazy isn’t something that happens overnight either. It’s something that happens to the best of us because our attention gets taken from us. Since I’ve created these WODs I’ve been able to take that attention back.

And the best part is many other people have too. It takes daily practice, consistency, determination and of course community. The #Kobernation is something that I cherish the most because they are people just like you and me (Yes you too because somehow I can feel someone is reading this).
