Being Good At Failure
Most people try to avoid failure. I for one look forward to it because behind every failure is a little note with a lesson written on it. Being good at failure is all about perspective. Learning that failure isn’t a bad thing will take your mind a little time to get use to the idea of it all. That’s what I intend to show with this article.

When I started working at my first job I failed all the time. Working as a shop tech at a camper dealership was the last job someone should of gave me. However, it was the best experience I ever received. From getting yelled at, almost daily, to interacting directly with the customer to learning the difference between a flathead screwdriver and a Phillips head. It was all new and I failed often.

The shop manager saw something in me that I didn’t recognize yet. He got after me a ton because he knew I could handle it. It wasn’t until my sister’s wedding, many years later, that he told me that. Grateful for the leadership he showed me I accepted the explanation and we had a drink together that night to solute hard work.

Being good at failure has been something I’ve been doing all of my life. To say that things come easy to me just isn’t true. I’ve always said that I am a late bloomer, but at least I bloom. When the repeating failure happens, it means the lesson hasn’t been learned yet. Read that again and really let it sink in.

When The Repeating Failure Happens, It Means The Lesson Hasn’t Been Learned Yet

Failure is all about perspective. Some would label failure as eating like crap on the weekend. Because society would see that as a failure too, we then invite guilt into our experience. Forget all that noise. The choice of each moment rests solely within yourself.

Looking each day within yourself for guidance is a perfect way to learn from your successes and failures. Another great way is to write about it. One more option would be to podcast about it. People are VERY inspired when they hear about another person’s failures. Vulnerabilities show strength as long as you know yourself well enough to know that you’re responsible for them.

Summing up your options. Sitting quietly, writing and talking are three ways to reflect on life’s failures. Each time a failure happens is another moment to take in the lesson that is being put in front of you. Accept it as truth, take responsibility and redirect the direction of movement.

Have Fun!
